REGULATING DISTRICT SCHEDULES FIFTH PUBLIC MEETING FOR PERMIT SYSTEM RULES The Hudson River - Black River Regulating District has scheduled the fifth meeting to seek public input regarding revisions to its rules and regulations for the permit system at Great Sacandaga Lake. The meeting will be Tuesday, May 30 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the auditorium at the Mayfield Central School, 27 School St. Mayfield, NY 12117 (please note this is the location of the third, but not the fourth, public meeting).

This meeting will be the last of the first series of five public meetings. "Our first four meetings were well attended and we received many helpful public comments," stated Glenn A. LaFave, Executive Director of the Regulating District. "In the first four meetings the discussion topics were determined by the Regulating District or our independent consultant, Saratoga Associates. The agenda for this meeting includes a time for the participants".

After draft rules are prepared, the Regulating District plans to hold a second round of public meetings to again seek input during the summer months, so it will be more convenient for Great Sacandaga Lake permit holders to attend.  All of these meetings will be open to the public.

Tentatively the Regulating District hopes to complete the rules revision process by the end of this year so the revised rules can be implemented in 2007, with the exception of permit fees which have been capped until 2010.

People who are not able to attend these meetings can download a “Permit System Rules Revision Public Comment Form” from the Regulating District’s website at http://www.hrbrrd.com/rulespubliccommentform.html and submit their recommendations.
