HUDSON RIVER-BLACK RIVER REGULATING DISTRICT BOARD ELECTS OFFICERS AND ESTABLISHES COMMITTEES FOR 2008

            ALBANY, NY - At the January 14, 2008 Organizational Meeting, the Board of the Hudson River-Black River Regulating District elected officers and established Board committees for 2008.  Chairman Philip W. Klein of Saratoga Springs was elected Chair.  Chairman Klein stated, "I look forward to working with the other Board Members as we continue to maintain the Regulating District's mission of regulating the flows of the Hudson and Black Rivers, meeting our legislative mandates of flood control and low flow augmentation.  In addition, we will carry on the efforts put forth by the Board on other initiatives, including bringing the Great Sacandaga Lake Permit System Rules up to date and implementing our new Capital Project Plan."

           Mr. Klein replaces Board member Anne B. McDonald of Ticonderoga who served as Chair from 2004 through 2007.  Mrs. McDonald stated, “I have enjoyed working with my fellow Board members.  We have made many gains in recent years and I look forward to continuing the work of the Regulating District.  The Board is in good hands with Chairman Klein at the helm.”

            Pamela S. Beyor of Black River was elected First Vice Chair and Ronald Pintuff of Northville was elected Second Vice Chair.  Other Board members are Arthur E. Eyre of Old Forge, John K. Bartow, Jr. of Adams and Patrick B. Dugan of Edinburg.  In accordance with the Regulating District’s enabling legislation, Title 21, Section 15-2137 of the Environmental Conservation Law, the Board consists of “…seven members to be appointed by the governor not less than three of whom shall be residents of the territory comprising the Black River area and not less than three of whom shall be residents of the territory comprising the Hudson River area.”

In the regular Board meeting which followed, Chairman Klein appointed the following committees:

Permit System Committee - Mr. Pintuff (Chair), Mr. Dugan, Mr. Eyre
Procurement Policy Committee - Mrs. McDonald (Chair), Mr. Pintuff, Mr. Bartow
